This group of 20 countries accounts for about 75% of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions. In 2021, the group recognized that limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre industrial levels required "meaningful and effective" steps.
Russia is one of the G20 countries. This month, Sky News and other reports said that Russia was burning natural gas that would normally be exported to Europe. According to Indonesia, the host country of the G20, Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the leaders' meeting scheduled for November.
